Tips to Keeping Summer Interesting
It’s summertime! That time we get paid back for enduring the brutal winter days and perpetually cloudy skies. That time when we swear we’ll never again take for granted a beautiful day.
So how do you choose what to do, where to go, and how to use your time? How do you stay active and get your family to join you? How can you get the most out of this season?
Find Your Local 5K!
Most cities have a 5k for families to participate in. Doing a 5k with your family is not just physically healthy for your family. It is also a great way to bond and build relationships with each other. You will train together, strive to go further together, and succeed together. You are creating a relationship-building event for your family by taking part in a 5K. If there isn’t one in your community, then plan one! And get other families involved!
Local Farmers Market
Go weekly to your local farmers market. Becoming a regular at your local farmers market gives you and your family something to look forward to each week, helps you connect with local people, and exposes you to another side of life. This is a small way to get out and about without it being a chore. You don’t have to plan much. And you don’t have to take much money with you. It creates memories, gets you outside, and gives you access to fresh flowers and fresh vegetables!
Discover your local parks. Many times we are creatures of habit and only visit our own parks and playgrounds. So change things up. Find a new place to go and enjoy. Find a different park to go to, a new trail to hike. This often expands our world in an easy way and you may find a new favorite place that is close to your world… a place that you would have otherwise never known existed.
So break the routine, get involved, and find new favorites. These months will go quickly. So do your homework and find out how you can enjoy them! Enjoy the world around you…because rain or shine, there’s always plenty to do.
